Leslie Thompson

by A. Jarrett on February 3, 2010

I am so inspired by the simplicity and muted tones in Leslie’s work!  She makes the most ordinary, everyday objects works of art – it’s as if each image tells a story.  Leslie has an eye for beauty – don’t you agree?

Definitely check out Leslie’s work on flickr.  She also has a number of images available in her etsy shop!

Tickled Pink Knits

by A. Jarrett on January 28, 2010

I’m so happy that Elena, a NY based designer, introduced me to her shop, Tickled Pink Knits.  I love her knitwear – shawls, wraps, scarflettes, everything you need to feel warm and cozy this winter!

She creates all of her garments by hand, using a variety of materials including cashmere, merino wool, and fine cottons.  I am inspired by Elena’s attention to detail, and the time and talent she puts in to each piece.

Please visit Elena’s flickr stream and etsy shop, Tickled Pink Knits.  If you are interested in her patterns, Elena has another etsy shop for those as well!

Karen Barbé Textileria

by A. Jarrett on January 7, 2010

I noticed the amazing work of Karen Barbé on Creature Comforts – and I instantly fell in love with her beautiful textiles.  I am inspired by the clean lines of her patterns and the way her duvet covers just make you want to jump right back in to bed!

Aren’t her cotton bags adorable as well?

Please visit Karen’s blog for more inspiration – it’s full of lovely images.  Also, Karen’s shop and flickr stream.

I could get lost in Georgianna Lane’s work.

Her images are so full of light and inspiration.  I love the softness in her touch – the way she makes the simple bits and baubles from nature stand out on their own.  Oh, how I long for warmer days!

Please visit Georgianna Lane’s fine art photography shop, blog, and flickr stream for more gorgeous photos!

Babies

by A. Jarrett on December 16, 2009

post_header_people

Today, I am inspired by these babies growing up in 4 different parts of the world.  I love to see other cultures and even with the vast differences between us, the similarities – especially as babies – are striking!

The movie comes out April 2010 – I can’t wait!

You mean they forget?

by A. Jarrett on December 14, 2009

post_header_words

When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work.  I told her I worked at the college – that my job was to teach people how to draw.

She stared at me, incredulous, and said “You mean they forget?”
